Cynthia Anne Backman, affectionately known as Anne, was born on December 24, 1938, in Monte Vista, Colorado, to George and Naomi Cornish. She was a radiant soul who brought warmth and light to everyone around her. Anne passed away on May 27, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. A devoted wife, mother, and friend, Anne touched the lives of many and will be remembered for her kind heart, unwavering faith, and the joy she took in the simple pleasures of life.
Anne graduated from West High School in 1957 and later graduated from University of Utah, where she received a bachelor RN. Anne married her beloved husband, Vernon Backman, on June 15, 1962, in the Salt Lake Temple. As a dedicated homemaker, Anne created a nurturing and supportive environment for her family, always putting their needs first. Her love for reading and knitting brought her a sense of comfort and accomplishment, and her creations were treasured gifts to those fortunate enough to receive them. A faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Anne's devotion to her faith was a guiding force throughout her life, providing strength and solace in both good times and bad.

Anne is survived by her loving husband, Vernon Backman; her daughter, Cyndie (Sam) Lopez; sons, Drake (Kris) Backman; Keith (Valerie) Backman; Garth (Becky) Backman; 15 grandchildren. Anne is also survived by two sisters and two brothers; Linda Ashton; C. Douglas Cornish; J. Devn Cornish; Gail Richardson. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Naomi Cornish and on brother, Kurtis Cornish. Anne's life will be celebrated with a funeral service on Monday, June 5, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Gillies Funeral Chapel, located at 634 East 200 South, Brigham City, Utah, 84302. A viewing will also be held at the same location on Monday, June 5, 2023, at 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
