It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Arthur Lewis Carr, born on the 15th of March, 1938, in Hardin, Montana. A man of many talents and an endless source of wisdom and joy, Arthur spent his 85 years creating a life full of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. As George Herbert once said, "The best mirror is an old friend," and Arthur was indeed that mirror reflecting the best of us all.
Art enlisted in the Navy in 1955, where he became a parachute rigger. While stationed in San Diego, he met his sweetheart, Jean Marie Pearson. He had been cooking eggs on the stove when the ceiling cracked, causing plaster to fall into his pan. Thinking it was an earthquake, he and his buddies went outside to find a mortified Jean and her car stuck in the crevice between the parking lot and building. They pulled the car out and the pair were married two weeks later on April 2nd, 1960. They would go on to share 62 years of wonderful memories together.
Art found his professional calling in the aerospace industry, serving as a Quality Assurance Specialist and retiring from Thiokol in 1993.
He enjoyed watching boxing on TV, fishing on his old Bayliner, and tinkering in the garage, fixing anything he deemed salvageable. Later in his life, his preferred pastime was driving to Malad to buy lottery tickets with his favorite son in law, Bert. He adored his grandkids, and they adored him. Every question they asked, he had an answer for, so each and every one of them thought he was the smartest man in the world.
Arthur is survived by his three daughters: Kathy Olsen, Karen Phillips, and Kimee Carr, six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, Elmo; his mother, Emma; his brothers, Jimmy and Dickey; his wife, Jean; his daughter, Kelly Jean; his son in law, Bert; and his grandson, Ryan.
Remembering Arthur is not about mourning his death, but rather celebrating his life. To honor his memory, we encourage everyone to leave their cherished memories and upload photos of Arthur on the memorial page. After all, there is no better way to keep his spirit alive than through shared stories and pictures, showcasing his unique life and the joy he brought to so many.
