Carolyn Ann Christensen

April 23, 1941 — September 19, 2023

Celebrating a life filled with courage, resilience, and an unwavering spirit, we share the news of the passing of Carolyn Ann Christensen on September 19, 2023 peacefully . Born in Phoenix, Arizona, on April 23, 1941, Carolyn Ann spent her life spreading inspiration, offering support, and creating lasting impacts in the lives of those she encountered. Her journey took her from the sun-kissed deserts of Arizona to the snow-capped mountains of Alaska, and many places in between. Every town she called home, every community she was part of, was touched by her radiant spirit and relentless determination. Carolyn Ann, a retired secretary, spent a significant part of her career in the realm of education, serving the Logan School District until her retirement in 2004. Her professional journey also led her to work under the future Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, during her stint at the Attorney General's Office in Arizona. Despite her professional accomplishments, what mattered most to Carolyn Ann were the relationships she fostered and nurtured. She was a supportive mother to her seven children, an inspiring grandmother to her 22 grandchildren, and a source of wisdom and love for her 12 great-grandchildren. A woman of faith, Carolyn Ann was devoted to her Heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her hobbies were as diverse as her interests, ranging from needlework, painting, reading, and puzzling to flying her Piper J3 Cub Tail-Dragger as a young adult. Carolyn passed peacefully, lovingly surrounded by her children, Danelyn (Marc) Jones, David (Lisa) Hester, Natalie Ellison, Karen (Alex) Johnson, Rachel (Thad) DeHart, and Adam Hester. She is remembered as a courageous and resilient woman who loved her family deeply. Carolyn Ann is also survived by her brother, Ronald (Joan) Christensen; her sister, Linda Wright, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse H. Christensen and Maude Helen Lillywhite, her daughter, Stephanie Jo Hester, her grandson, Joshua Sunshine, her sister, Janet Widmer, and her brother, Robert Christensen. As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the life she lived and the inspiration she left behind. Her life teaches us that resilience and hope can guide us through the toughest of times, and that love and family are the greatest anchors one can have.
