Together Again

Claudia Jean Mangum Perry passed away peacefully at the Gables Assisted Living in Brigham City, after a brief illness and a long battle with dementia.
Claudia was born in Bicknell, Utah, daughter of Clifford Lee Mangum and Elizabeth Bertha Brown. She resided in Bicknell for her first 18 years before moving to Provo to attend Brigham Young University. It was there where she met her future husband Newell B. Perry, they were married on July 22, 1955 in the Manti Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They resided in Provo for six years before making their permanent home in Brigham City.
Claudia was devout in her faith and served in many roles including Relief Society President, Primary President, Young Women’s Camp director, Gospel Doctrine Teacher, she also served with her husband in the Ogden Temple.
Claudia was also involved in her community serving as a Chaplain in Daughters of Utah Pioneers, and as an election judge. She enjoyed Dutch oven cooking, aerobics, playing cards, traveling with friends and family, and doing puzzles.
Claudia was a homemaker and devoted mother to her children: Valerie (Steve) Odenthal, Nanette Wharton, Bradley Newell Perry (deceased), Lee (Kathy) Perry, and Everett (Cindy) Perry. She was the proud grandmother to 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Claudia was happy to be reunited with her husband, Newell; her parents, Clifford and Elizabeth Mangum; sister, Bertha Louise Coombs; brothers, Joseph Mangum and William Coombs; and her son, Bradley Newell Perry.
The family wishes to send a special thanks to all of the friends and family who have visited with Claudia over the years, a special thanks to her closest confidantes Adele Forsgren, Dora Hobbs, JaNetta Spencer and Margie Ellsworth. The kindness and service provided by the Gables memory care unit staff, particularly Angel who was with her in her final moments.
While mourning her loss here on Earth, her family is happy to know that she is now reunited with those who have gone on before her, especially her son Brad who was taken tragically in 1984.
A viewing will take place from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 10, with the funeral services to follow at 12 p.m. at the LDS 11th Ward building. Interment will be at the Brigham City Cemetery. Funeral services will be provided by Gillies Funeral Chapel, an online stream will be hosted for family and friends who are unable to attend in person. Condolences and memories are also welcome there.
