BRIGHAM CITY - Devoted husband, father, and friend, D. A. Olsen passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2014 in Brigham City, Utah. He was born to Dan F. and Lucile Barton Olsen in Brigham City, Utah on July 27, 1926 where he was a lifelong resident. He married the love of his life, Barbara Nelson also of Brigham City on August 25, 1949 in Brigham City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple. She preceded D.A. in death six weeks before on October 8, 2014. Graduating from the University of Utah he accepted a position at Box Elder High School teaching English, Government and History. Teaching was his passion and he was a dedicated and effective teacher making a difference in the lives of his students for over 40 years. D.A. also owned a paint contracting business, where he spent many hours with colleagues and took pride in enhancing the look of many homes and businesses in the area. He had a delightful sense of humor in the way he interacted with people, which was a charming and engaging part of his personality. D. A. enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with friends. D.A.'s greatest joy came from spending time with his family and being part of his granddaughters lives, supporting them in their sports and education. Surviving are his two children, Tom (Lori) Olsen, Logan; Teresa (Richard) Parker, Chester Springs, PA; two granddaughters, Jordan and Kylie Olsen; one sister, Madge Olsen Weis, Danville, CA. D. A. was preceded in death by his parents, his sweetheart, Barbara, two brothers, K. B. Olsen, Boyd Olsen and one sister, Gwen Bailey. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Brigham City LDS 12th Ward Chapel, 139 East 300 North. Viewings will be held on Friday, Dec. 5th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City and on Saturday at the Church from 10:00 to 10:40 a.m. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
