With a heart full of sorrow but also gratitude for a life lived to the fullest, we announce the passing of David Carmen Miller, who left us on February 7, 2024. Born on April 12, 1960, in Ogden, Utah, David was an embodiment of charisma and humor, bringing joy and laughter to those around him. He was the kind of man who could light up a room with his contagious laughter and engaging storytelling, a beacon of warmth and support in any storm. He would reside in Nevada from the mid-nineties until his retirement in 2014, where he moved to Brigham City to be closer to his grandkids.
David dedicated his professional life to the construction industry, holding the position of a Safety Manager with Ormaza Construction until his retirement in 2014. Here, his charismatic personality served him well, as he was often the one to defuse tense situations with a well-timed joke or an encouraging word. As a safety manager, he was not only responsible for ensuring the safety of the workers but also for creating an environment where everyone felt valued and cared for. His supportive and loving nature was reflected in his work, reminding us all that "The only way to do great work is to love what you do", as Steve Jobs once said.
David was a beloved father and grandfather to his sons, Carl (Nancy) and Zach Miller and his daughter Darcy (Nate) Young, his grandson, Noah Miller, and his granddaughters, Bre Miller, Hollis Young, and Aubrey Miller. His love for his family was evident in every facet of his life, but it was his grandchildren that held a special place in his heart. To him, they were his greatest accomplishment and source of joy. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Miller Sr., and his mother, Maxine Smith, who surely welcomed him with open arms and joyous laughter. He is survived by his children and grandchildren and his siblings, Mark (Amy) Miller, Robert (Patty) Miller, and Brian (Denise) Miller, Jodi Smith, Sherrie (Bill) Chadwick, and Carla Smith. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dixie Miller.
David's legacy continues to live on in those who had the privilege to know him. His charismatic charm, funny anecdotes, supportive nature, and loving heart will forever be remembered. Please take a moment to share your memories and upload photos of our beloved David on his memorial page. Your stories and pictures are a testament to his extraordinary life and will serve as a comfort for all those who mourn his passing. Remember, as David himself would say, "Life is too short not to celebrate nice moments!"
Please join us for a celebration of life to honor our Dad, Grandpa, Uncle, Brother, and friend on Saturday, February 24, 2024, from 5-8 pm, at the Community United Methodist Church, 163 Laker Way, Ogden, UT 84405.
A special thanks to DaVita Dialysis in Pleasant View for taking care of Dave for so long. As the joke goes, “Dave’s kinda like furniture around here.” We appreciate your contribution toward his extended life.
We’d also like to give a special thank you to Dave’s sister Jodi, who acted as his caretaker for the last few years. Her sacrifices made Dave’s day to day life much easier.
In Lieu of flowers, please send donations for his final expenses to his daughter Darcy’s Venmo. @darcy-young828
