Charles Dennis Hume, a lifelong learner, and passionate electronics enthusiast, left us on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at the age of 77. Born on December 7, 1945, in Billings, Montana, a son of Charles and Olive Anderson Hume. Dennis was a man of curiosity who dedicated his life to exploring and understanding the world around him.
Dennis lived his life with a relentless curiosity that found its home in his career as a Test Engineering Technician in the scientific industry. His dedication and passion for his work was only matched by his love for electronics, a hobby that he nurtured throughout his life. Dennis was a man who found joy in the intricate details of the world, who saw the beauty in a circuit board and the mystery in a microchip. In his leisure time, he could often be found immersed in a world of wires and circuits, his eyes sparkling with fascination.
Dennis served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. He served in Vietnam from March 4, 1966 to December 12, 1969. He also served at Da Nang Air Base, South Vietnam from February 22, 1967 to February 20, 1968, where he worked on the F4 Radar Systems.
Dennis is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a member of the Brigham City First Ward. He read the Book of Mormon over 200 times.
Dennis leaves behind his brother, Alan (Jannet) Hume, his sister, Sharla (Richard) Layton. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Hume, and his mother, Olive Anderson. His life was a testament to the power of curiosity and the joy of discovery, a legacy that will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at 12 Noon at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 E 200 S., Brigham City, UT. A viewing will be held prior to the services from 10:30 to 11:30 am.
Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Veterans of Box Elder County Honor Guard.
