Dewayne Sperry

July 23, 1940 — August 18, 2024

DeWayne Henry Sperry, known to all as simply DeWayne, was born on July 23, 1940, in Salina, KS, USA. He was a loving, supportive, compassionate, and courageous man, whose life was defined by his love and dedication to his family, friends, and the Church. DeWayne's journey on this earth, which spanned over 84 fruitful years, was marked by countless moments of joy, shared laughter, and the comforting warmth of his ever-present kindness. He moved from his birthplace of Kansas to Clearfield, then Layton in Utah, building a life rich in experiences, relationships, and faith. DeWayne's professional journey saw him excel as an Electrical Technician, with his diligent service at Hill Field in electronics and testing equipment earning him several awards for hard work and dedication. His passion for his work was matched only by his love for hobbies that brought him closer to nature. An active participant in hunting, fishing, camping, and gardening, DeWayne also found immense joy in square dancing, expressing his vivacious spirit as a member of the Wild Bunch square dance club. DeWayne's unwavering faith led him to be an active member of the LDS Church in the Perry 5th Ward. His commitment saw him serve in the Ogden temple for 10 years and the Brigham City temple for 8 years. His deep devotion to his faith was evident in his strong testimony of Jesus Christ, as beautifully captured in the LDS Church teachings, "The worth of souls is great in the sight of God." DeWayne's life stands as a testament to this truth, as he touched countless lives with his gentle spirit and heart full of love. DeWayne is survived by his spouse, Gwenda Sperry, his son Greg (Chris) Sperry, sisters Phyllis Hollen and Louise Harris, step-daughter Michelle (Devon) Griffin and step-sons LeLand (Tanya) Howlett and Warren (Julie) Howlett.
