Edris Blanche Frodsham Johnson passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, May 26, 2022.
Born on June 13, 1940 and raised in Brigham City, she was the daughter of Verland Jay and Blanche Frodsham, and the youngest of 5 children. There she attended grade school and graduated from Box Elder High School, where she excelled in typing, competing in many competitions. She served as the Secretary of her Senior Class and was also active in the B’Etts.
After graduation, Eddie excelled as an athlete, playing softball in a competitive league. She was known for her speed around the bases and could hit the ball farther than expected for her petite size. She also worked at Thiokol for ten years as the secretary for the general manager, until she started her family.
She met her future husband Darrell Johnson at a dance in Logan after which they started dating. They were married on January 1, 1964 in the Logan LDS Temple and had a beautiful life together, celebrating their 58th anniversary this year. They had three wonderful children, which brought forth 11 grandkids and four great-grandchildren, so far.
Eddie was known for her many amazing talents. She sang in the choir and played the piano. As a homemaker, she was second to none, always having homemade bread, canned peaches, jams, and pickles on hand to feed her family and many others. “Eddie’s Spaghetti” was famous and highly in demand whenever friends and family would visit. She was a great seamstress, keeping her family well clothed. She loved to keep her mind and skills sharp by reading, saying she was “going to curl up with a good book” by one of her favorite authors Tom Clancy or John Grisham, or do one of her many crossword puzzles. She was also known for her impeccable handwriting, grammar, and organizational skills. She used these talents in her work at Peterson’s funeral chapel, transitioning to Gillies, where she was asked to stay to keep things running smoothly. Taking advantage of the outdoors and staying fit were also things she enjoyed, so she spent time gardening, jumping rope, and going camping and 4-wheeling with family and friends. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she held many callings. Favorites were teaching the young women of the church and printing the 8th Ward paper for many years until her health started to fail. Her faith was very important to her. It showed in the way she raised her family and associated with those around her. She was a tireless bundle of energy who greeted everyone with a big smile and a hug, and her laugh was infectious to those around her. Her kindness and generosity were evident in the caring way she chose to conduct herself as a beloved wife, mother, friend, and to the many animals she adored that were lucky to live with her. She will be deeply missed by her family members, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her sweetheart, Darrell, their three children, daughter Ann and (Kip), son Craig and (Catherine), daughter Lori, their 11 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren; sister Arlene, brother Dave and (Joyce), and sister-in-law Sharon and (Tom) and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Wayne and Thomas; nephew J.D; her mother and father-in-law, Ada and Don Johnson; brother-in-law Kenneth Allen, and other aunts and uncles.
The family would like to thank the hospice nurse Jody Jones, and Mandy Harward from the BeeHive Homes Assisted Living and all her staff.
Funeral services will be held at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East, 200 South, Brigham City on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at 12:00 Noon.
