On the evening of February 3rd, Elbert Frank Kent left this life surrounded by the warmth and love of family. Son of Smith and Thelma Kent, and with three brothers and three sisters, Elbert spent his first years growing up in Kilgore, Idaho before moving to Brigham City at the age of ten. During high school, Elbert played clarinet in the marching band and helped out in the cafeteria during his lunch. After graduating from Box Elder High School, Elbert was drafted into the United States Army. He served honorably and proudly during the Vietnam War.
Elbert briefly attended college, but soon decided it was not for him. He wanted to be outside and work with his hands. He worked on a garbage truck for a time and hauled oil to and from Sinclair, Wyoming, but construction was his true calling. His job helped him see much of Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming. Elbert’s dream was to own his own construction company, a dream he would realize with KAS Construction. KAS Construction specialized in siding, roofing, and the construction of homes.
On October 9th, 1993, he married the love of his life, Michele Allene Chambers Harrison, and the two would spend the next 29 wonderful years together. Elbert had one daughter, Lisa Marie Baggett, and with his marriage to Michele, he found himself with five new stepchildren whom he loved and treated as his own.
A kind, and courageous man, Elbert was always there at a moment’s notice to help anyone in need. He met the day with a cowboy hat on his head and a can of soda in his hand. He liked to fish and camp, and he always took particular pride in his rosebushes. He loved meat and potatoes and made just the best barbecue steaks. He was a skilled leatherworker, and whittled even the humblest pieces of wood into works of art.
Elbert is preceded in death by his sweet, wonderful parents, Smith and Thelma Kent. He is survived by his wife, Michele, his brothers and sisters Roger (Janet) Kent, Edith (Richard) Watkins, Barbara Pratt, Henry (Diana) Kent, Marjean (Brent) Hiatt, and Lamar (Lisa) Kent; his daughters and sons Lisa Marie Baggett (Blair Hawkes), Michael (Trin) Harrison, Jo (Julee) Harrison, Nicole (Donald) Harris, Diana Harrison (Steve Vail,) and David (Tenaya) Harrison; his thirteen grandkids, Josh, Michael, Robert, Marie, Nadia, Jake, Makaydee, Sydnee, Josh, Trinity, Taya, Kyson, and William; and his eight great-grandchildren, Baker, Dominic, Credence, Zaylee, Javien, Phoenix, Everest, Mekhi, and Mishel; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Elbert’s caregivers, who cared deeply and blessed him with compassion: Collette, Fyre, Jason, Pastor Dan, the CNS Hospice Staff; and Alicia, who kept him looking his best. Thank you for taking such good care of Elbert.
