Eric Seth Mitchell, of Brigham City, Utah, passed away in the arms of his wife on December 24, 2022 after a long series of health complications.
Eric was born to Edward (Ted) and Aleda Mitchell on October 6, 1964 in Vancouver, British Columbia. He was the middle of 9 children. Eric loved his Canadian heritage, and he loved to find treasures with the Canadian flag on them.
After moving to Utah when he was 2 years old, Eric attended schools in Brigham City High School and he got his GED with the help of little sister, Bev. Eric worked at Autoliv for 25 years, something he was very proud of. He retired on disability in the spring of 2021. Eric made a lot of life long friends during his time at Autoliv.
Eric met and married JoAnne Andersen in 1983. From this union came 2 beautiful children, Amanda whom he adopted when she was 5 years old, and later Scott, who looks and acts just like his dad. Eric and JoAnne later divorced, but remained friends through the years.
In June of 1999, Eric met and fell head over heels in love with his soulmate, Jenn. They were married in June of 2000. Together they added another child to his roster, his beautiful Ellianna.
Eric’s children were his whole world. He often stayed up all night while they were traveling across the country, and soon he became “Command Central”, helping them to navigate storms and any other problems that might arise. Eric was so proud of his kids and all of their accomplishments.
Eric loved to tinker with things. Sometimes he would take things apart, simply to see how they worked, or if he could put them back together. He taught himself how to maneuver the world of computers, and he loved being everyone’s IT department. Eric also loved his radios. He had police scanners and cb radios all over the place. This past year he was able to complete his ultimate set up, and loved to “shoot skip” to see how far away he could talk to fellow radio nerds. Camping was another great love of Eric’s. He looked forward to his family’s big reunion at Willow Flat Campground every year, as well as any quick trips he could sneak in with Jenn, his partner in crime.
Eric is survived by his wife, Jenn, of Brigham City, his children Amanda (David) Wilson (Nashville, TN) Scott (Angie) Mitchell (Bowling Green, KY), and Ellianna of Brigham City. He is also survived by siblings Rex (Kitty) Mitchell, DeWard Mitchell, Karla Young, Arlene (Dale) Johnson, Craig (Kristi) Mitchell and Yvette Maynard. As well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, nephew Spencer, brother Mark Mitchell and sister Beverley (Noel) Allred.
Eric’s family wish to express gratitude to the doctors and staff at McKay Dee Hospital, especially his favorite nurse, Sarah. And a super special thank you to “his girls”, home care nurses Shelby, Carly and most of all Chelsey. Eric often said Chelsey was his angel. We love you girls, and you will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
