Fred Glen Woodyatt
June 12, 1928 - September 22, 2023
Fred Glen Woodyatt, 95, passed away peacefully, with family by his side, on September 22, 2023. He was blessed with longevity and full life. However, in his final years he began to greatly anticipate being reunited with his dear Bonnie, and returning to his Heavenly home.
Glen was born June 12, 1928, in Willard, Utah, to Fred A. Woodyatt and Pearl Tams Woodyatt. As the third child, only boy and baby of the family, Glen was know as the spoiled, but beloved son/brother to his parents and older sisters. Glen spent the entirety of his life residing in Willard. He graduated from Box Elder High School and was proud to serve in the Army during World War II.
He married his sweetheart, Bonnie, in 1984, and they were later sealed in the Ogden Utah Temple, on October 27, 2000 -- one of the happiest days of his life.
At a young age, Glen began purchasing small plots of land in Willard, which he used to plant row crops and fruit trees. He supported his family for 30 years running a fruit stand. He also raised sheep and grazed them on hillside land he owned in Willard. In his later years, he decided to convert his fruit farm to a cherry orchard. He turned that orchard into a family-owned business, where they sold cherries, cherry concentrate, dried cherries, cherry pies, and cherry jam. From then on he declared himself "The Cherry Man," or as the grandkids affectionately called him, "Grandpa Cherry." Glen also enjoyed taking his products to the Salt Lake, Ogden, and Park City Farmers Markets.
During the winter months, Glen and Bonnie traveled to Temple RV Park in St. George. While there, they enjoyed golfing, four wheeling, and traveling with friends for 34 years.
Glen worked his fields and ran his cherry business until the age of 87. Glen valued a strong work ethic; he was a hard worker known for his honesty and integrity. He led by example and taught his children, starting at a young age, to work beside him in the fields.
Glen was preceded in death by his sweetheart, Bonnie, his parents and two sisters, and Bonnies' son Jess. He is survived by his and Bonnie's children: Tereasa (Dean) Stokes, Brigham City; Shelley (Brent) Dahle, North Logan; Tammy (Steve) Wood, Layton; Susie (Larry) Larsen, Bear River City; Harvey Woodyatt, Fruit Heights; Dan (Lisa) Woodyatt, Willard; Shane (Darla) Fredrickson, Heber; Monte (Tasha) Fredrickson, Plain City. He also leaves legacy for 30 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at noon, on Friday, September 29, 2023, at Willard 6th Ward, 665 West 7615 South, Willard, Utah. A viewing will precede the services from 10:00 to 11:30am.
Our Grandpa Cherry was a great many things. The man, we thought, would outlive us all. He had determination and grit. He loved to crack jokes and get a laugh. He was full of character and mischief, and was loved by all. Grandpa Cherry would always ask the great-grandkids, "Do you know who I am? I'm your Grandpa Cherry." Don't worry, Grandpa. We know you, we love you, and your legacy will live on for generations to come.
The family would like to thank the staff at Maple Springs and a special thanks to Steve Evans, with Tender Care Hospice Services.
