Gary Adams

PERRY - Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend, Gary Vail Adams, 80, passed away peacefully on Friday, in Brigham City, Utah with his family at his side. He was born on March 27, 1936 in Logan, Utah, a son of Thomas Stanley and Hilda Sue Vail Adams. He was reared and educated in Logan, Utah, graduating from Logan High School and attended Utah State University, where he played freshman basketball there. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Gary married his sweetheart, Yvonne Fay Baigent, a New Zealand native, on June 30, 1961 in Logan, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple in 1962. Gary was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, served in two bishoprics, young men's president, scout master, and served with his wife as the Stake Dance Directors. Served two missions with his wife, Yvonne, in the Baltic States Mission from 2001-2002 and Bishop Store House in Brigham City from 2009-2010. Gary worked at Thiokol, Morton Thiokol and then retired from Autoliv as designer engineer in 1998. He loved the outdoors, back packing, hunting, camping, automotive repair, sports, oil painting, and God's sport, golfing, 1 Nephi 10:19 "The course of the Lord is one eternal round." The family would like to thank Encompass Home Health and Hospice and the Perry LDS 7th Ward for their loving care of Gary. Surviving are his wife, Yvonne of Perry; five children, Mark (Kristine) Adams, Pleasant View; Tamra (Hal) Harvey, Santa Clarita, CA; Brett Adams of Jackson Hole, WY; Michelle (Mike) Federico, Twin Falls, ID; Scott (Mary) Adams, Ammon, ID; 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; one brother, Douglas Adams of Logan. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Perry LDS 7th Ward Chapel, 2415 Park Drive. Viewings will be held on Thursday, Feb. 16th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City, UT and on Friday at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans of Box Elder County.
