On Tuesday, July 23, 2024, Grant Nelson, passed peacefully away surrounded by loved ones. He was 86 years old.
In loving memory of a man of service, who deeply believed that "Service is what qualifies us for Heaven". His life was an embodiment of this quote he had in his kitchen, reflecting his profound commitment to service and his faith.
He was a cherished member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, constantly embodying its teachings and values. His dedication to his faith was unwavering and was reflected in every aspect of his life.
He had a zest for life and found happiness in the simple things like riding in his Rhino and visiting friends and family. He had a special hobby of baking brownies for missionary farewells and homecomings, a tradition that will be fondly remembered by all. He loved using his tractor to plow his neighbors’ driveways in the winter and till their gardens in the fall and spring. He enjoyed buying soup from Maddox and delivering it to those who were sick.
His dedication to his faith, love for his family, and commitment to service will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
He was blessed with a large family, and was a proud grandfather. His love for his family was boundless and he found immense joy in the company of his loved ones. He is survived by his son Doug (Jill) Nelson, his daughter Alisa (Jeb) Whitby, and son Travis (Sharon) Nelson, 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three on the way. He is also survived by his siblings, Loretta Wyatt, and Grace (LeWayne) Walker
He was preceded in death by his wife Kayla (Tingey) Nelson, his daughter Analee (Nelson) Rupp, his parents Ellis and Ruby, and his brother’s Deloy (LaRaine) and Rulon (Nedra) and one brother-in-law Ralph Wyatt.
Funeral services will be held on July 27, 2024, at 11:30 A.M. in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Mantua Second Ward building. 237 Willard Peak Road.

A viewing will be held on Saturday from 9:30 – 11:00 am prior to the services. Interment in the Mantua City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that charitable donations be made to the missionary fund for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in his memory.
