Grant Lynn Wilson, 81, of Brigham City, Utah passed away on February 8, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. Grant was born on August 15, 1941, in Ogden, Utah, and was the loving son of Evelyn Barker Wilson and Lynoil D. Wilson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, David Galloway and stepchild, Chloe Bruce and one granddaughter Lizzy.
Grant was a talented artist and loved spending time painting, drawing, and working with clay. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1969 majoring in Art. He spent many years of his career as a cartoonist working for Hanna-Barbera, Ruby-Spears Productions and Marvel Productions. You can find his artwork in several popular cartoons like Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends, Scooby’s All-Star Laff-A-Lympics, and Captain Caveman and the Teen Angels. He later worked and retired from Morton Thiokol, Inc. Grant was also known for his caricature drawings, and some could call him a local celebrity. You would frequently find him at local festivals like Peach Days, in front of long lines of people waiting to get their caricature done by the famous Grant Wilson.
Grant was a great storyteller and always kept his audience laughing with his silly jokes. He always had a positive outlook on life. He was loved by many and will be missed.
Grant is survived by his wife, Heidi Ariena Bleazard; his children Holly Barham (John), April Adams (Rex), Tad Wilson (Tara), Nathan Wilson (Eve), Melissa Wilson, and Catherine “Katie” Wilson. His stepchildren, Cindy Fullerton, Ryan Harvey (Amy), Tami Smith (Jared), Tasha, Jazel, Liesel, Bonnie, Detrich, Zachary, Samuel, George, and 24 grandchildren.
He had a close relationship with his siblings Sheron Phillips (Roger), Gloria Jaques, Lyle Wilson (Maria), Richard Wilson (Sandra), Neil Galloway (Elaine), Glen Galloway (Teresa); and his stepsisters Ann Carol Galloway, Linda Kirby, and Bonnie Jessee (Norman).
Grant was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission in Maine and the surrounding states from 1960 to 1962 and a 2nd mission with his wife, Ariena, in Ogden, Utah from 2019 to 2020.
Grant was a Vietnam veteran that served in the U.S. Army.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 18, 2023, at 11:00am at the Box Elder Stake Center, 420 S 800 W, Brigham City, UT 84302. The family will receive friends prior to the memorial service from 10:00am until 10:45am.
