Jack G. Bale, 91, of Layton, Utah, peacefully returned home to the loving embrace of Heavenly Father on April 6, 2018.
Jack will be fondly remembered as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was born in Payson, Utah on March 14, 1927 to parents Vaud Bale and Gladys Stone Bale. From his earliest years, he showed remarkable athletic talent and continued using those gifts through High School graduation from South High School in Salt Lake City, UT. He earned an athletic scholarship to play baseball and football at Mesa College in Grand Junction, Colorado. While studying and playing sports, he also found the time to fall in love and marry his eternal companion, Marie Arnold. He later continued his education at the University of Utah where he graduated in business management. Jack was a proud American and a veteran of the United States Navy. He enjoyed a long and successful career with Chevron Corporation. Among other responsibilities, he worked for many years in Human Resources, where he enjoyed doing what he did best...working with people. Upon his retirement, he moved to Perry, Utah to a peaceful life full of friendship and nearby family.
Jack was a man of conviction and strong beliefs. He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he held many positions, including serving in the Winder 8th Ward Bishopric. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, golfing and fishing. Perhaps Jack will best be remembered for the exceptional care that he provided to his beloved wife, Marie. Jack patiently and selflessly cared for her while she suffered the debilitating challenges from severe multiple sclerosis. He stood by her side, providing her with day-to-day care, for more than five decades. While doing so, out of necessity, he became both father and mother to his four lovely daughters. While we remember and celebrate his example and life, we cannot help but smile as we also remember Jack as the "health-nut" way ahead of his time. He was ever so conscientious of using natural remedies, herbs, supplements and consuming only healthy foods. He delighted in providing health advice to family and friends.... None of us will ever forget that refined sugar is way worse than poison and, of course, "the whiter the bread, the sooner you're dead". His lifestyle served him well, as he was well into his late 80's when he began to slow a bit....
Jack was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Marie; his father, Vaud; mother, Gladys; brother, Ross; sister, Marge Bale Thorne and grandson, Daniel Vernon Prescott. He is survived by his four beautiful daughters: Claudia Bale, Cathy Wilson Coe (Bill), Barbara Prescott (Lee) and Sandy Cooper. He is also survived by fifteen wonderful and successful grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren, for which he had a tremendous amount of pride and affection.
A service for all family and friends will be held in Jack's honor at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 E 200 S, Brigham on April 14, 2018 at 11 o'clock. A greeting will be held from 10:30 to 11:00am.
The family wishes to acknowledge with gratitude the fabulous care, love and affection provided to Jack by the professional, caring and hard-working staff at Fairfield Village in Layton, Ut, as well as the nurses and staff as Encompass Home Health and Hospice. Your love, patience and devotion will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donation to Encompass Care Foundation (encompasscare.org).
