James E. Schroeder
BRIGHAM CITY - Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, scouter and friend, James Edward Schroeder, 72, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home on Thursday, February 7, 2019.
He was born October 1, 1946 in Perris, California, a son of Dwight Seymour and Isabella Lottie Perkins Schroeder.
James graduated from Box Elder High School in 1964 and Weber State University in 1967.
He married his high school sweetheart, Elva Westover, on September 4, 1964 in Brigham City, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on September 24, 1965.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the Bishopric, as Young Men's President, and as Sunday School President.
James was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America, serving as a scout master more years then we can count. He served on the Trapper Trails Council, Western Region Board, and National Board. He earned the Silver Beaver Award. He was a member of the Rotary Club and President of the Children's Aid Society.
James was a partner at Wiggins & Company in Ogden, Utah, where he was a CPA for over 40 years.
He enjoyed building and remodeling homes, woodworking, family history, designing quilts for Elva to quilt, reading, and anything done with his family, especially going on vacations with his entire family to Disneyland.
The family would like to thank Canyon Hospice, especially MaryAnn, Chris, Bruce, Anne, Huntsman Cancer Institute, and Dr. Grupa.
Surviving are his wife, Elva; three children: Roger (Melodee) Schroeder; Richard (Kristy) Schroeder; Tina (Jason) Olsen; 11 grandchildren, two siblings, Mary (Alma) Fullmer; Dwight (Linda) Schroeder; Sister in law, Sally Schroeder; two brother-in-law's, Robert (Becky) Westover and Floyd (Robin) Westover.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, James Edward Schroeder Jr.; one daughter, Elva Jean Schroeder; one brother, Robert Neil Schroeder; brother in law, James Ralph Westover; and his in-laws, Ralph and Lillian Westover.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Brigham City 9th Ward Chapel, 236 East 100 South.
Viewings will be held on Friday, Feb. 15 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gillies Funeral Chapel and at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16.
