Janice Barton Leggett 1947 - 2023 Loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away at home with her daughter by her side on Sunday, January 15, 2023. She was born on June 4, 1947 in Watsonville, California to Clarence and Elva Bolster. She was reared and educated in California and Utah attending high school in Watsonville, CA.. She married Gregg Bainum on October 24, 1966 in Santa Cruz, CA. From this union they had 2 sons; Clifford Bainum (Mark Protiva) and Gregory Bainum (Gozde). They were later divorced. Jan met and married James C. Newman on August 24, 1972 in Las Vegas, NV. From this union they had 1 daughter, Theresa Mathis (Sean). Jan was preceded in death by James on July 1, 1977. Jan met and married John W. Barton on May 15, 1992. John brought to her life 6 step children who she loved as her own. Susie Jaime (Ruben), John Barton Jr., Ruth Christensen, Frank Barton, Quinton Barton & Tina Minchey (Kyle). Jan was preceded in death by John on December 16, 2005. Jan rekindled a relationship and married Bobby K. Leggett on January 19, 2007 in Willard, UT. They later divorced. Jan worked as a waitress, bartender, book keeper and seamstress while living in California. After relocating to Utah she drove truck with James until he passed in 1977. While raising her daughter she often waitressed and tended bar to make ends meet. She began work at Autoliv in 1997 and continued there until she retired. During the years at Autoliv she worked seasonally for IRS as well. She had many hobbies. In her younger years you could usually find her at a campsite or with a fishing pole in the summers and had her fair share of trips to Wendover in the winter. While living with Theresa she enjoyed road trips to Idaho for lottery and scratch tickets. She loved cooking, crafting and crocheting items to bring joy to those she loved. In fact, she loved it so much; she baked her last banana nut bread and made her last batch of candy on January 3, 2023. As her health began to fail she became an avid reader and facebook gambler. Surviving are her sister, Louise Gorder, 3 Children, 7 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren. 6 Step Children, 16 Step Grandchildren and 33 Step Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by 5 nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Denise Mckeehan, one step grand daughter and one great granddaughter. A special thanks to Cathy with CNS Home Health & Hospice and Melissa Tooker for their great care and concern of mom in her final days. Your warmth and kindness did not go unnoticed. Also, thanks to Darlene Stain and Dena Skeen for providing a special place to celebrate Mom. At Janice's request no funeral or viewing is to occur. Graveside services will be held on Monday, February 6, 2023 at 1:00 pm. at Aultorest Memorial Park. 836 36th Street Ogden, Utah. A private celebration of life is to be held for family and friends.
