It is with profound sorrow yet immense gratitude for his life that we announce the passing of Jared L Johnson, who left this earthly realm on July 7, 2024. Born on June 13, 1939, in Clarkston, Washington, Jared's life was a testament to the power of love, humility, creativity, and talent. He was a beacon of light, a pillar of strength, and an embodiment of the scripture from the Book of Mormon, "By small and simple things are great things brought to pass."
Jared was a master at his craft, his gifted hands creating beautiful woodworking pieces through his business, "The Wooden Horse." His passion for his work was evident in every piece he crafted and in the joy he found in gifting his wooden toys to his grandchildren and others. He was a dedicated member of the Rotary Club for several years, and his love for learning and exploration took him beyond American borders, teaching Air Force students at Sembach Air Force Base in Germany. Jared was an avid reader and cherished spending quality time with family, each moment a testament to his loving nature.
A man of deep faith, Jared served The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with unwavering devotion. His roles as a High Priest, Stake High Council member, Sunday School teacher, and an Eagle Scout were not merely titles but testimonies of his humble service. He was a proud missionary in the LDS mission in Sweden for 2 1/2 years, spreading the love of Christ with every interaction. Jared leaves behind his beloved wife, Marian Johnson, and their children Jerry Johnson (Merilee), Peter Johnson (Anne), Lisa Grondel (Shawn), Kendall Blackner, and Lauri Rusch (David); 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents Leroy Johnson and Reta O'Fallon, his siblings Patricia Moss and Glen Johnson, and his daughter Christie Johnson.
