Jed had a varied career. He spent over 40 years working on the north slope of the Alaskan pipeline. He was skilled with his hands loving to create and made beautiful jewelry and wood creations. He worked as a bartender, which was fitting, as he was naturally social. Jed loved his dogs. He and his wife, Sally enjoyed participating in dogs shows, winning many awards. He was an avid Seattle Seahawks fan. Jed loved Seattle and his home in Hoodsport, WA in the woods. He could sit for hours enjoying the solitude he cherished. He could also visit for hours with his friends, while enjoying the spectacular view of the bay. Jed was a giving person and would do anything for anyone. Jed was married to Peggy Faulk and later divorced. He was married to Gloria Brewer in 1967 and later divorced. He then married Sally Sathe in 1978. She passed away in 2012.
