John Shannon

May 4, 1993 — October 28, 2019

John (Jonny) McBrian Shannon’s Obituary: HONEYVILLE – Jonny Shannon, age 26, passed away Monday, October 28, 2019. Jonny was born at Hill Air Force Base, Utah on May 4, 1993. He is the son of Sharleen Poulsen and James “Mike” Shannon. Jonny attended several schools in his youth, including Honeyville Elementary, Century Elementary, Adele C. Young Intermediate, Box Elder Middle, Box Elder High, Lighthouse High (Price, Utah), Bear River High, and ultimately graduated from Dale Young Community High School in 2011. Throughout his school years, he had a natural ability to make friends wherever he went. Jonny had a strong belief in God and was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 2001. He cared deeply for people, and he will be remembered for showing love and kindness towards everyone he met. Jonny had an infectious sense of humor, loved to laugh, and pursued joy. He was a constant comedian; anyone who knew Jonny can remember a time when he made them belly laugh. He had no filter, and his life seemed to be one outrageous adventure after another. The ability to welcome and include others was one of Jonny's talents. A childhood friend shared this tribute, "To know John was to love him and be loved by him in return." He truly had a gift to uplift and bring joy into the lives of others. Jonny had a variety of hobbies. He was a hard worker and enjoyed welding, repairing equipment (usually things he broke), training horses, and working at the family farm/ranch. Hunting with his brothers, wrestling, spending time with friends and family, and telling crazy stories were a big part of his life. Jonny battled with addiction for a long time, and we're proud of his efforts and bravery in fighting the damn devil. Jonny is survived by his parents James “Mike” and Sharleen Shannon and siblings: Jacob (Ruth Ann) Shannon; James (Katie) Shannon; Jennie “Jen” Spencer; Jared Shannon; Justin (Caley) Shannon; Joseph (Jessi) Shannon; and Jed (McKayla) Shannon. Jonny was preceded in death by his 2 grandmothers, 2 grandfathers, and older sister, Jonna. Jonny was an exceptional man and will be greatly missed.
