John Harrison Swalwell, or Jack as he was lovingly know by family and friends, passed away on Saturday October 1st 2022 after a brief fight with Brain Cancer.
Jack was born on April 27th, 1950 in Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia. Now known as Zimbabwe.
He was an only child born to Minnie Close and John Harrison Swalwell III.
He lost his father at a young age. When he was 13, he and his mom joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints.
After Jack graduated high school he went to college and got a teaching degree. He then served as a mechanic in the Salisbury Military.
He later served a Mission for the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints in Johannesburg, South Africa.
After his mission he became an Auto Mechanic.
He soon met Carole, a single mother of five children. They were married in 1981 in Zimbabwe , and sealed in the London Temple. They later adopted two siblings.
Both Carole and Jack served as district missionaries for six years and started two branches in Zimbabwe.
Jack enjoyed cars, racing Go-Carts, motorcycles and restoring his favorite kind of car... Mercedes.
Carole and Jack moved to England for five years then immigrated to the United states and later became American Citizens. He liked to joke that he was an African American.
Jack is survived by his wife, Carole. Two children, Jonathan (Tara) Swalwell and Lorraine Sippel; five step children, Cathy (Eliot) Dye, Sean (Dianne) Donnelly, Kevin (Abigail) Donnelly, Brian Richard (Natalie) Donnelly and Paula (Rob) Cook.
He is missed dearly by his dog Koda.
Funeral Services with be held on Saturday October 8th 2022 at the Brigham city 14th ward. 650 Anderson Drive, Brigham City, Ut.
There will be a visitation at 10:00 am, with a service to follow at 11:00 am.
The family would like to thank the Doctors and nurses at Ogden Regional Hospital and the Hospice nurses from Atlas and the amazing staff at Gillies Funeral Chapel for their care of Jack.
