John Larry Thornock, fondly known as Larry, took his last earthly breath on May 11, 2024. His life was a testament to the words of Albert Einstein, "Creativity is intelligence having fun." Born in Roberts, Idaho on September 13, 1935, Larry was an embodiment of creativity, nurturing an engaging and enchanting life filled with an array of talents. His inventive spirit was not confined to the aerospace manufacturing industry where he dedicated his career, but spilled over to his personal life, where he was known as a talented craftsman who could fix anything and turn ordinary objects into extraordinary artifacts.
Larry's compassionate soul found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Whether it was dune buggying, camping under the starlit sky, fishing, or engaging in a riveting round of poker with his family, his enthusiasm was contagious. Larry and Janet enjoyed taking the fifth wheel to Parker, Arizona for the winter for 18 years. They have many friendships from this time. Larry's love for life was deeply rooted in his love for his family and friends. Larry married Bonnie Ann Cassity in 1959. They had four loving children. They were later divorced. He later married his beloved wife, Janet, on February 15, 1985, Larry was a devoted husband, a loving father to Michael, Shane, Shelley, and Melissa. The proud grandpa to 12 grandkids 22 great-grandkids. He loved his family with all his heart and left an indelible imprint on their lives with his warm presence and kind gestures.
Larry's resilience and strength were admirable. He faced the world with a brave heart, fostering a legacy that will continue to inspire his loved ones. He is survived by his wife, children, and siblings Gary and DawnAlane. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Donna Thornock, and his brothers Max, Ted, Bud, and McKay Thornock. Larry's life was a beautiful journey, and his memory will be honored in a graveside service on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. MDT at the Brigham City Cemetery, located at 300 East 300 South, Brigham City, Utah, 84302.
