Our loving Father, John Peter Valcarce, 94, passed away on February 2,2024. John was born in Brigham City, Utah on January 11, 1930, to Casiano and Avonia Petersen Valcarce. He grew up in Brigham City where he graduated from Box Elder High school in 1948. He married his high school sweetheart Shirley Hunsaker on June 2, 1949, in the Logan Temple. Shirley and John were blessed with six children.
John worked at the Ogden Defense Depot and the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge. He
owned Valcarce Farms, growing produce, including his well-known peaches for over 60 years.
He leaves behind a legacy of five children; Vickie Topik, Dale (Holly) Valcarce, Susan (Lewis) Brough, Mary (Paul) Nelson, Peter (Michael) Valcarce; 12 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and a sister Ann Merrill.
Waiting to greet him on the other side were his parents, his wife Shirley of 70 years, son Jerry; siblings: Joseph, Juanita, Arland, Robert, Edward, and Paul; and great grandsons Gage and Boston.
The family would like to thank Dr. Markeson, Rachel and the team at Bristol Hospice for their help and support. They would also like to thank a great grandson, Bryson Singleton, who unselfishly stayed with John for the past four and a half years.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Perry 6th Ward, 1290 West 2950 South, Perry, Utah.
Viewings will be held on Thursday, February 8, from 6-7 pm at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City, Utah, and again on Friday at the church from 10:00-10:40 am.
lnterment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
