Jordan Alan Taylor
Our sweet son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend, Jordan Alan Taylor, 13, passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022 in his home surrounded by his loving family.
Jordan was currently attending the 7th grade at the Adele C. Young Intermediate School. He loved attending school, mostly to see his friends. He was so smart and could memorize things quickly. Math, science and history were his favorite subjects. His English teacher noticed his love for books and started asking him for book ideas for her classes. Wonderful teachers inspired his love for continued learning. His Aunt Amber started his addiction to problem solving at an early age by playing math games. He would ask her for more problems to solve in his head on a regular basis.
Jordan was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he was recently ordained to the office of teacher. He enjoyed being a part of his young men's group as they participated in weekly activities, service and baptisms for the dead. We are so thankful for the many people who helped strengthen and teach Jordan the gospel. He shared his testimony through loving actions and words with all those he came in contact with.
Jordan's favorite past time was playing and being with family and friends. He enjoyed vacationing with family; going to the beach, Disney, Harry Potter in Universal and yearly Park City and Yellowstone vacations. At a young age, Jordan had expensive taste in food. His favorites were steak, shrimp, brisket and anything smoked. Most days were spent at home with his brothers and sister. He was an amazing big brother and his mom's right hand. He loved to swim, ride bikes and play football and basketball. His friend wrote to Jordan, "In flag football and at school you never tore people down you always complimented and built everyone up". He brought so much love and joy into our lives and to all who were around him.
During the last months of life, Jordan fought cancer with bravery and unwavering faith in God's plan for him. All the while, he never complained as he went through countless procedures and treatments. We love our Jordan. He is our Hero and will always be in our hearts. The family would like to thank the Neuro Oncology Unit and surgeons at Primary Children's Medical Center for their loving care of Jordan.
Jordan was born on October 4, 2008 in Murray, Utah. He is survived by his parents, Barry and Katrina Ricks; three siblings, Tayson (6), Hadley (4), and Holden Ricks (7 mos); father, Michael Taylor and his grandparents, Bevan and Laura Wasden, Alysia Ricks and Lynmari Taylor.
Jordan was preceded in death by two grandfathers, Merle Ricks and Alan Richard Taylor.
