Joy Probst Young, age 63, returned to her Heavenly Father after a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer on August 22, 2023, peacefully surrounded by her family.
She was born on June 12, 1960, in Ogden, Utah, to Elena Graham and Boyd Hugh Probst. She graduated from Davis High School in 1978 and attended Southern Utah University. On November 25, 1986, she married Brent William Young in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were blessed with four children. Joy was a devoted mother and grandmother, finding her greatest "joys" in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Joy had a passion for cooking and baking homemade treats. Her love language was "food," always providing comfort through meals to friends and neighbors who were sick or in need of cheering up. She possessed a remarkable ability to notice the needs of others around her and selflessly serve them. Throughout her life, she held various callings in the LDS church, reflecting a lifetime of dedicated service. She also served as a Temple Church Service Missionary at the Brigham City LDS Temple. In her free time, she enjoyed playing the piano and organ, reading, and taking walks with her husband.
Although we are heartbroken by her loss, we take comfort in knowing that Joy lived a profoundly meaningful life, filled with love and kindness. Her warm-hearted nature touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed by all.
Joy is survived by her husband, Brent; daughters: Michelle Young, Meagan Young, Brooklyn (Jesse) Caldwell, and Brianne Young; her grandchildren: Cohen and Jade Caldwell; and her siblings: Jayel (Phil) Hogan, Bruce (DeAnn) Probst, Jeanine Gallacher, and Jennifer (Darren) Lueckler.
There will be a viewing Saturday, August 26th from 9:30 till 10:30 in the morning, with funeral services following at 11:00 at the Box Elder Stake Center (420 South 800 West) in Brigham City, Utah. Interment will take place at the Brigham City, Utah Cemetery.
