Kirk O Nelson (Lover Buns) was born on March 16, 1947 and died at home, on Wednesday, February 21, 2018.
He graduated from Box Elder High School in 1965 and attended Weber State College. Kirk served in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict, as a General's aide.
Kirk served an LDS Mission to Canada.
He married Gena LaRee Carter, on September 14, 1984 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Kirk and Gena loved to travel, ride at the sand dunes, go to movies, and host game nights and weekly taco nights. They loved going out with their friends. Their house was always fun. Their home was always decorated beautifully for Halloween and Christmas.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in Stake and Ward callings. Kirk was always generous with his time and willing to help anyone that was in need.
Surviving are his siblings, Steve (Sandy) Nelson, St. George; Scott (Carol) Nelson, Cottonwood Heights; Sheryl (Terry) Thackeray, Roy and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn S. and Edna Jorgenson Nelson, his spouse, Gena Nelson, one sister, Deanna Murdock and two brothers, Douglas Nelson and Bruce Nelson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Brigham City Central LDS Ward Chapel, 506 South 200 East, Brigham City, UT. Viewings will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City, and on Saturday at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the Brigham City Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by Box Elder County Honor Guard.
