LaRee Andersen Carter, after eight years of separation, was finally granted her wish, and was called home to reunite with her husband in the next life. At age 92.5, she passed away suddenly on Saturday 16 March 2024 at the Brigham City Community Hospital with family by her side.
LaRee was born on 3 September 1931 in Brigham City, Utah, a daughter of Joseph Lester and Olivia Forsgren Andersen. LaRee graduated from Box Elder High School in 1949. She married her sweetheart John Ellis Carter on 12 June 1951 in Brigham City, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan Utah Temple on 27 June 1952. John preceded her in death on 10 September 2015.
Her top priorities were her husband and family. She was an exceptional, dedicated, self-sacrificing wife, mother, and homemaker. She made home, home – “if she wasn’t home, it wasn’t home!” Her love for her Savior, Jesus Christ, was her guiding light. She was a life-long devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served a lifetime in many callings, including two Senior missions she and John served together: Louisiana Baton Rouge Mission (1988), and San Diego Mormon Battalion Visitors’ Center (2002). She loved playing the piano, sewing, crocheting, quilting, and reading. She had an inclination towards solitude, but she loved and cared about people. Her greatest joy was being with her family.
Surviving are her eight children: John Michael Carter, Jenice Elaine (Ron) McArthur, Reese A (Eva Jean) Carter, Kayleen Fadel, Tamra (David) Rawlings, Scott Ellis Carter, Douglas Wayne (Pam) Carter, JoAnne (LaMont) Cook; 38 grandchildren; 99 great-grandchildren with one on the way; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one son-in-law (Roger Fadel), two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, her parents, all four brothers (J, Oleen, Lee Roy, Grant), and both sisters (Jneil Madsen, Neone Stenquist).
