Larry Cardenaz, a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and a former Navy SEAL, died Friday, Feb. 23, 2018 from brain cancer. He was 60.
Larry was born in Chicago on April 7, 1957, but soon moved back to Austin, Texas where he grew up with parents Agustin and Janie Cardenaz, brother Michael, and sisters Carol and Terri. He joined the Navy after high school and soon became a scuba diver and a skydiver. Combining work with play, he became a Navy SEAL as an underwater demolition expert for SEAL Team 12.
After serving his country, he became a book salesman, where he knocked on the door of a beautiful blonde who let him in, fed him and soon married him. Shirleen Marriott and Larry were sealed together for eternity in the Oakland, California Temple in 1983. Larry is survived by Shirleen and their seven children: Monica Brianna Bell, Brandon Cardenaz, Colin Cardenaz, Maria Lounsbury, Steven Cardenaz, Bradley Cardenaz and Hannah Forsgren. They have 14 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. at the Box Elder Tabernacle, 251 South 100 East, Brigham City, Utah, where military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans of Box Elder County Honor Guard.
A viewing will be held on Friday, March 2, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Brigham City LDS 4th Ward Relief Society Room, 25 North 300 East.
Interment will be in the Utah Veterans Memorial Park in Bluffdale, Utah on Monday, Mar. 5th at 12 Noon. Condolences can be sent to gilliesfuneralchapel.com.
