Linda Atkinson

Linda Beth Atkinson, fondly known as HanginBird, peacefully passed away on December 2, 2023, at the age of 80, in her cherished home in Hyrum, Utah. Born on June 24, 1943, in Hyrum Utah, Linda was the youngest of four children to her loving parents, Ira and Elzabeth Allen. She found enduring love with LaDell Atkinson, marrying him for time and all eternity in the Logan LDS Temple. Linda’s life was a testament to kindness and acceptance, touching countless lives with her remarkable nature. Her heart belonged to the outdoors, where she reveled in boating, waterskiing on Hyrum Dam, and riding her beloved horse, King. She was a member of the Hyrum Saddle Club for many years. Linda had a passion for hunting, camping and spontaneous fishing trips. She embraced scouting and achieved her wood badge. She also found joy in gatherings at the Rendezvous with her Mountain Men family, where was known as Lady HanginBird. She was great at cooking on an open fire and sewing buckskin leathers to wear. Linda also enjoyed her Lady’s Day every Thursday with her friends. Beyond her outdoor pursuits, Linda dedicated herself to genealogy and extraction work for the LDS church, pouring her time into this vital and fulfilling endeavor. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life as a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She will be dearly missed and remembered for her warm enthusiasm, zest for life, profound love for nature, her boundless kindness, and her innate ability to bring joy to all her friends and family. Her legacy of acceptance and unwavering love will forever inspire those privileged to have known her. Linda leaves behind cherished memories for her surviving family: her sons, Mitch (Chalee) Atkinson of Hyrum, UT, Tracy Atkinson (Michael Langfeldt) of Suncity, AZ, her daughter, Trina (Dave) Nielsen of Hyrum, UT and her 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband LaDell Atkinson, her daughter's Tifany, Jolie and Tricia and her sister and two brothers, she has now been reunited with them. The caring team at Gillies Funeral Chapel in Brigham City, UT, is assisting the family with arrangements for Linda’s final farewell. Funeral services will be held at noon on Monday, Dec.11, 2023, at the Hyrum Stake Center chapel, 600 S. 200 E. Hyrum, UT. A viewing will precede the service from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at the Hyrum Stake Center. Interment will take place at the Hyrum City Cemetery.
