In the grand tapestry of life, a vibrant thread was cut on October 28, 2023 when Linda Cobbley’s journey ended. Having battled cancer with the most positive attitude ever, she left with a smile on her face, at home, surrounded by people who loved her dearly while holding the hand of her best friend and love of her life, Del.
Linda Cobbley, née Zeller, was born August 2, 1965.
Linda was a bright spirit, a lover of the mystical allure of dragons, the festive joy of Christmas, the carefree charm of bell-bottom jeans, and the vibrant swirls of tie-dye.
Linda loved to explore and see new places, and her greatest adventures in life were found with her hand in Del’s. Linda and Del were married on August 13, 2016 and their story was one of love, excitement, and adventure, reminiscent of the tale of Eli and Carl in "Up," with Chaco Canyon as their shared destination. In the 13 amazing years they had together, they lived remembering that everywhere they wanted to go was connected to their driveway and they had many, many adventures together. Along the way, they collected smashed pennies and metal medallions for her walking stick.
Linda loved to be in the outside and play in the dirt. She transformed her yard into a magical whimsical place where all of the family she collected over the years felt welcome and loved to gather with the fairies, dragons, flowers, and lights.
She found great joy in her grandchildren and was proud to have the title of “Pup-ma.”
Her faith in the Lakota traditions and the Red Path were a source of strength and inspiration for her, reflecting her deep-rooted respect for nature and the interconnectedness of all beings. Above all, what mattered most to Linda was the family she collected throughout her life. Linda was a living testament to the phrase, “Family isn’t always blood. It’s the people in your life who want you in theirs; the ones who accept you for who you are. The ones who would do anything to see you smile and who love you no matter what."
Surviving are her husband, Del Cobbley; their cat, Bruzer; two daughters, Kaleena (Bill) Farmer and her grand-pup Koa of Ohio and Jessa (Norman) Gordier of Ogden; three grandchildren, Keltic Apollo Gordier, Destiny Begay, and Jeremiah Gordier; her mother, Fae Burgener; her step-mom, Jane Zeller; two sisters: Connie (John) Wolf and Tawnya Zeller; her Sisters of the Heart; many nieces and nephews and countless chosen family members. She was preceded in death by their cats Simon and Wetta; and her father, Mitchel Zeller.
Linda's desire was to be cremated and have a gathering at a later date.
As we bid farewell to Linda, remember to celebrate her life as she lived it– with joy, humor, and a pair of bell-bottom jeans. We invite you to share your memories, written and photographic of Linda on her memorial page.
