Marie Johnson Richardson September 29, 1918 - February 9, 2018 Marie Johnson Richardson, 99, of Brigham City passed away peacefully in her home on February 9 at 6:00 pm. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, February 24 at the LDS chapel, 105 Fishburn Dr., Brigham City at 11:00 am, preceded by a viewing at 10:00 am to 10:40 am Bishop Jeff Campbell conducting. The burial will be held at the Brigham City Cemetery following the funeral. Arrangements are handled by Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 E. 200 South in Brigham City, 435-723-5236, www.gilliesfuneralchapel.com. Marie was born in Brigham City to Lucius and Florence Johnson on September 29, 1918. She graduated from Box Elder High School in 1936 and married her high school sweetheart, Elwood "Woody" Richardson soon after graduation. They began their new life in Southern California, where she supported and helped her husband with his political, acting, and business activities. She was very busy in the community and an active member of The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Marie was graced with many talents including art, music and sewing. As a young school girl, Marie sang in a trio throughout Box Elder County with her sisters, Beth and Orpha. Marie was also very active in the LDS church and held many leadership and teaching positions in the Relief Society and Primary. She sang in vocal and choral groups in the church throughout the years. Marie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elwood Richardson, her parents, Lucius and Florence Johnson; 2 brothers, June and Howard (Midge) Johnson; and 2 sisters, Orpha (Kedrick) Larson and Beth (Jules) Bailey. Marie is survived by her son, Dwane " Woody" (Annette) Richardson, and 3 daughters, Sydney (David) Curtis, Karen (Clyde) Nelson and Florence (Joe) Marca; 21 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Marie is a beloved Matriarch and considered an "Angel on Earth" by her family and friends. She will be missed, but her memory will continue to be the glue that cements her family together in love. She will always be admired for her graciousness and Christ- like example. Thank you dear mother.
