Mary I. Miles
Our Mom began her eternal adventure on Thursday, November 23, 2023, after only 90 years and 10 months on this earth. Mom was born in Camden, New Jersey to Lewis and Mary Godshall and was the baby of the family, having two brothers (Jack Godshall and Lewis Godshall), both preceding her in death.
She attended New Jersey schools and grew up helping her dad with his printing business.
Mom started her life adventures early, marrying young and starting a family. She had four children from this union (later divorced), Karin, Richard, Jacqueline, and Deborah. Mom met Farrell Miles in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They married and had five children, Matthew, Randall, Jodi, Susan, and Jennifer.
They moved west, eventually making their home in Box Elder County. The marriage ended, but they remained friends.
The door was always open at the Miles home. Everyone was welcome for a day or a lifetime. We kids knew not to leave home for long, or someone would claim our space. We had bedrooms in every nook and cranny. Through this open door came James Jim and Kelly Wright. They too, became permanent members of our family.
Mom lived for adventures and loved to travel. She believed she could do anything and was never afraid to try. She was very resourceful, hard-working, intelligent, and independent. She could make a tiny apartment into a home on a shoestring budget. She worked for the Internal Revenue Service, Thiokol, and Box Elder News Journal, locally. She worked at many car and RV dealerships around the country.
She balked at norms, even working as a long-haul trucker for a time. At her retirement, she was managing an RV park in southern Utah. She was also an entrepreneur, showing off her baking and crafting talents.
Mom is survived by Karin (Ron, deceased) Kulbok, Deborah (Kelly Heald) Burke, Matthew Miles, Jodi (Glenn) McFall, Susan (Larry) McCormick, and Jennifer (Larry Harper) Wolber. There are 32 grandchildren and more great-grandchildren than we can count.
She was joined at the gates of heaven, by: Richard (Janet) Smith, Jacqueline Smith, Randall Miles, James (Laverne) Jim, and Kelly (Juanita) Wright, and grandson, Jacob Wolber.
Mom has requested no services for her passing but we will be holding a celebration of life in the near future. Details will be announced.
