Michael has always been proud to tell people that he was born in Tripoli, Libya, South Africa. His parents spent a year there in the Air Force in 1954. He was an Air Force brat and proud of it! So much so that he enlisted right after high school and just before his marriage to Christine Montgomery. He spent 16 years serving as a Jet Engine Mechanic working in the Strategic air Command.
Michael and Christine (Mike and Chris) have 5 children, 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. They had many adventures and special experiences together during their 33-year marriage. Raising their children and loving the little ones was a great blessing with many happy memories.
Michael is survived by his 2 sisters, Rocky and Dawn. These three had great adventures growing up in Missouri, North Dakota and Minnesota. Mischief, teasing, laughter and always love for each other and their parents. They were a close and happy family.
Mike spent most of the last 15 years with his friend Shirley. He grew to love and be loved by her three adult children Amber, Shawn and Jared. They enjoyed lots of fun and pleasant times together, along with their many cats.
Home is where there are people who love you. Michaels last few years were spent living at the George E Wahlen Veterans Home. He considered this his home, as indeed, he was surrounded by people who cared deeply for him. The reason for this? He cared deeply about each of them.
Michael truly has a loving heart and has touched many lives by sharing his friendship, a smile, a story and a listening ear with those around him. His favorite saying is still true.
“God isn’t finished with me yet!”
We would like to give a special thanks to the wonderful staff at George E Wahlen Veterans Home in Ogden as well as the amazing nurses and staff at Bristol Hospice.
In lieu of flowers our family would greatly appreciate donations towards the funeral expenses.
