Monty Day

September 12, 1957 — September 4, 2024

Monty Ray Day (9/12/1957 - 9/04/2024) Mischievous Monty; the Master Manipulator of Molten Metals, returned to his heavenly home on Wednesday, September 4th, 2024. Monty was born on September 12th, 1957 to Ray Phelps Day and Joan Antoinette Capps in Salt Lake City, UT. He spent his early childhood years in Bountiful and moved to Brigham City at the age of 5, where he lived out the rest of his days. He never liked to go south of 1100 south! He worked as a Journeyman welder for various local companies, and was very skilled in his trade - hence, his killer nickname. He married Dori Lovell in 1981. Together they shared in nearly 30 years of life, love and marriage, but later divorced. Mont loved being outside - getting into all the trouble he could find. He enjoyed fishing, shooting guns, camping, and just goofing off. He was a light-hearted person who loved to laugh, be in the company of his people and have a good time. Mont was one of the best jokesters and storytellers around. He could always deliver the punchline perfectly! He was such a charmer and loved to flirt with all the girls. He had a love for music, and enjoyed listening to new artists in his favorite genre of rock/blues. He also loved his favorite TV shows: Gunsmoke and Bonanza - and had seen every episode at least a dozen times. He loved going out for country road drives, and helping his friends on the farm. The country always made him the most happy and at peace. He had a talent of growing fresh produce, and knew all the right tricks to grow and pick out the very best. Mont is survived by his two children; Jeremy (Susie) Day of Brigham City, and Jamie Day Smith of Syracuse, his four grandchildren; Jaydon (Thomas Mason) Ruiz, Kaleb Day, Cody & Kylie Smith, and two great-grandsons; Xzavier & Braxten. Sisters; Jeniel (Bill) Besch, Joni (Alan) Norman, his brother; KC Day, and many nieces & nephews. Mont also had many family members by choice - not by blood: Mike Boyce, his longtime brother, stood by his side all of his life, and in all of his shenanigans. Mont was greeted at the pearly gates by his Dad, Mom & oldest sister, Pam. Mont liked to have a GOOD time and didn’t want a boring, lame funeral, SO: A ‘Celebration of Life’ is in order! When: Saturday, September 14th Time: 2:00pm-6:00pm Where: Box Elder Campground - Group C Campsite. Hamburgers, hotdogs & chicken will be provided. Please join us as you are, pull up a chair and bring a potluck side to share! In lieu of flowers, please purchase and enjoy some fresh produce from a local farmer. Mont loved a good cantaloupe with a generous sprinkling of salt.
