Nelda Mae Balls Parsons, 90 years old, passed away on May 1, 2018, after a brief illness. She was the daughter of Myrland Heber Balls and May Nelson Balls. She had one brother, Delwin Dale Balls.
She married Richard Wallace Parsons on June 27, 1946, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with 6 children: Richard Bruce Parsons (Jill),Ronald Douglas Parsons (Karla), Peggy Friden (John), Carolyn Rasmussen (Rod), Brian Van Parsons (Anna), and Melanie Williams (Rick). She has 27 grandchildren, 78 great -grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Our mother's greatest source of joy in her life was her family. She was a loving mother and friend to each of her family members.
She was a life-long resident of Brigham City. She attended local schools and graduated with honors from Box Elder High School where she enjoyed participating in the high school plays.
Nelda was an excellent seamstress making her children's clothing, men suits, formals and wedding gowns. She was a member of the Box Elder Symphonic Choir, the Civic Club, the PTA, and was on a bowling league. Nelda was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many leadership positions. She was a hardworking, capable woman, Nelda enjoyed canning, freezing and drying fruits and vegetables, as well as making raspberry jam.
She loved to read, work with ceramics, make quilts, and many other creative masterpieces. Each holiday her home was decorated on the inside and outside. Each day, she did the daily crossword puzzle in the newspaper "to stay sharp."
She is famous for the many Hallmark cards that she sent to family, friends, and neighbors (all with a gold seal on the back). The grandchildren and great grandchildren loved the Christmas Ornaments that she gave to them each Christmas.
Nelda loved to travel with her husband all over the world. One of their favorite spots was Hawaii. She will be remembered, for her loving spirit and acceptance of everyone. We love you, and we will miss you, Mom.
She was preceded in death by: Richard Wallace Parsons (husband); Myrland and May Balls (parents); Doug (son); Judy Parsons (daughter-in-law); and Jan Parsons (granddaughter).
A special thanks to Janessa Sliger for her loving care of our mother.
