Our dearest Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and friend, Nettie (Vigh) Salmon, of Brigham City, Utah passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on April 17, 2023. Nettie was born November 25, 1942 in Portland, Oregon to Lorenzo and Ruth (Thatcher)Vigh. She was the 5th of eight children and was both an adventurous leader and protector of her younger siblings.
Nettie met the love of her life Garold Arthur Salmon while attending Utah State University and the two were married on March 15, 1963 in Hyrum Utah. They were later sealed in the Logan temple. Their life was a true love story spanning more than 55 years. Nettie never fully recovered after losing Gary in 2018. They had 5 children, 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren of whom they were so proud.
Nettie had a delightfully competitive nature and natural athletic ability and she participated in all of the girls high school sports programs. She helped start the powder puff women's softball league in Brigham City, Utah and competed on both city and church sports teams throughout her adult life. In her sixties she became a medal winner in the Utah Senior Olympics in volleyball. Nettie loved watching all sports including those played by her children and grandchildren.
Gary and Nettie created a beautiful, dedicated, and loving family to carry on their legacy of love and passion for life. Nettie is survived by her daughter Carma (Rob) Salmon-Pain, sons Corey Salmon, Colby (Taryn) Salmon, Callan (Janna) Salmon, and Cade (Paola) Salmon. Grandchildren Meg, Mylz Jake, Kendra, Jessica, Hunter, Hanna, Holden, Ryan and Reese; great grandchildren Sullivan and Augustine.
Nettie was sweet and smart and a life-long peacemaker. She had an enormous impact on so many lives with her witty insights and lighthearted nature. She showed us all how to take little things and make them big and she made life so much more enjoyable. She will be missed.
