Norma Tanner Clark
May 4, 1933 - November 22, 2024
Surrounded by her children, and enveloped in laughter, love, music, and cherished memories, Norma Tanner Clark passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of November 22, 2024.
Norma was born in Ogden to Herb and Vera Tanner and was raised in Grouse Creek as the fourth of 11 children, with whom she has shared a lifelong bond. She attended Grouse Creek School and Bear River High School, graduating in 1951. Shortly after high school, Norma married Hughe Dean Clark and moved to Brigham City where they remained since, raising their children, and being active in the community. Both were wonderful and supportive parents - never missing a ball game, school event, concert, or church activity involving their children.
Through the years, Norma was employed at the County Clerk’s Office, C&D’s Pizza, Bess Service, Box Elder Bank, First Interstate Bank, and Eagle Mountain Golf Course. After her “retirement”, she began selling Avon where her clients became her most incredible and valued friends. While mostly a hobby, her “business” afforded her the opportunity to routinely visit with friends and earned her the Rose Circle Award and several Presidential awards along the way. One of the most challenging consequences of her memory loss was the inability for her to continue visiting her Avon clients.
Norma was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she has served as Relief Society President, Young Women’s President, and in numerous teaching positions.
Though most may remember her cheerful personality, sense of humor, candy-making, baking, and her love of the Utah Jazz, her 15 minutes of fame came in August of 2010 when she dropped a fifty-foot putt for $10,000 on the KSL 5 Golf Utah show. This brought her a tremendous feeling of accomplishment and notoriety within golfing circles; but also made national news and sports highlight shows including ESPN’s Play of the Day. Show host Rod Zundel has never had a better kiss.
With significant memory loss, Norma spent the last years of her life at the Beehive Homes Assisted Living where she graced them with her humor, kindness, sparkling jewelry, and never-ceasing joy. She loved her Beehive family and never had a bad day. Special thanks to Mandi and her entire staff of angels for the love and tender care they gave her, to Melissa for her special friendship and for always making mom shine, and to Gloria and others who have consistently visited and shown love.
Surviving are her children Jerry (Donna), Perry; Carla (Jeff) Norman, Draper; Mike (Mary), Brigham; Jeff (Trudi), Syracuse; Paul (Michelle), South Weber; siblings Marge Glines, Brigham; Merle White, Orem; Darrell Tanner, Pleasant View; Eileen Johnson, Brigham; Barbara Dougherty, Brigham. She leaves behind 21 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren who each felt her love and adoration.
She was preceded in death by Dean, her husband and the love of her life for 65 years, her infant daughter Janet, granddaughter Lindsay, and siblings Shirley Tanner, Audrey Teeter, Floyd Tanner, Don Tanner, and Allen Tanner. A very sweet reunion has undoubtedly commenced.
