Brigham City- Our loving husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa, great-great grandpa and friend, O'Dell George, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.
Del was born on December 17, 1925 to Jabez Arthur George and Laura Elizabeth Gardner. He was the 7th of 10 children. Del was born in Tremonton Utah. He attended Bear River High School until joining the Navy. After returning from the service, his first stop was to the Higley house to visit Violet who had been corresponding while he was away. Del and Violet Luella Higley were married January 29, 1947. They have five children, Leah, Jenny, Cindy, Charm, Geoff.
Del liked to sing, read, tell stories, watch the history channel, camp, wintering in Yuma, playing pool and people watching while Violet shopped.
Del was smart and could remember anything he learned, especially history. He missed his family while they were in Yuma and was excited to get back.
Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and telling stories. Del is survived by his wife Violet, children; Jenny (Greg) Harper, Cindy (Jack) Burt, Charm (Roland) Petersen, Geoff George; 14 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; brother Arthur George.
He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter and Son-in-law Leah (Kelly) Cook; 2 grandchildren, Angelique Cook, Jami Lyn Burt; 1 great granddaughter Keyana Burt; and eight siblings.
A viewing will be held on Monday, July 23, 2018 from 11:30am-12:45pm at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm at Gillies Funeral Chapel.
Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
