Pamela Garcia

September 18, 1951 — May 30, 2024

On May 30, 2024, our beloved Pamela Leone Shumway Garcia, known affectionately as Pam, left us with memories of a life filled with courage, humility, and generous spirit. Born on September 18, 1951, in Layton, UT, Pamela spent her life in a testament of love and service to her family, friends, and the LDS church. She was a guiding light to many, always ready with supportive words and actions. Her humble nature and her selfless devotion to others are attributes that will forever define her legacy. Pamela was a gifted hairdresser with a special touch for creating the "best damn shampoo sets in Davis county." Her career allowed her to connect with her community, and she cherished the friendships she forged through her work. A woman of many hobbies, Pamela loved camping, nurturing her beautiful flowers, and participating in rendezvous. Her jovial spirit was infectious, especially when she’d rouse her children with church music on Sundays. She also had a penchant for coloring, a pastime that showcased her creativity. Pamela was immensely involved in the LDS church, attending Girl's Camp in her youth and later served as a leader . Her faith was unwavering, and she strongly believed in the testament of tithing, a conviction she lived by throughout her life. "Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God;" (Doctrine and Covenants 18:10) a verse that resonated deeply with Pamela's life as she valued every interaction and every soul she encountered. Pamela was preceded in death by her father, William Shumway; her mother, Wanda Stott; and her sister, Cheryl (Ed) Gocel. She is survived by her sons, Nash (Megan) Garcia, Josh (Jen) Garcia, Jacob (Sherina) Garcia, and Quinten (Marci) Garcia; ten grandkids Mia, Holly, Skyler, Sage, Micah, Ira, Porter, Joyce, Maisee, and O’Flynn; her siblings Steve (Karen), Leonard (Peggy), Jeff (DeeAnn), Adam (Lisa), and Robert (Michelle). And many nieces and nephews and dear friends. To her, family was her anchor, and her faith was her compass. To us, she is an enduring symbol of resilience, love, and faith. A funeral will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 11 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 331 South 50 West, Kaysville, Utah. A viewing will be held on Friday, June 7, 2024, from 6-8 pm at the church and again on Saturday from 10:00 to 10:45 am prior to the funeral. We invite you to share your memories and photos of Pamela on her memorial page. Your stories and images will serve as a testament to Pamela's vibrant life and her profound impact on those she touched. Let us remember and celebrate Pamela, her life, and the love she shared with us all.
