Rachel Joyce Poulsen

Rachel Joyce Poulsen, 92, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023 at The Gables Assisted Living facility closely surrounded by her immediate friends and family members.
She was born on May 2, 1931 in Blackstone, MA to William Cochrane and Anne Bradbury Cochrane. Rachel was one of 5 children born to William and Anne. Her brothers and sisters included Robert, Renny, Ruthie and a sister named Jessica who died at birth.
Rachel met her sweetheart, Gerald H. Poulsen, and married him for eternity on March 30, 1958 in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was later sealed and solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple.
Rachel was an active member of the community at her home in Brigham City, Utah. For many years she owned an operated “Poulsen’s Used Furniture & Antiques”, where she would purchase and resell both antiques and quality used household furniture to those in need. She was an active volunteer in Brigham City, dedicating her time and resources to Meals-on-Wheels, Brigham City Pantry, Pennies By the Inch, Easter Seals and a Reading Program for the local elementary schools. Her hobbies including collecting antique furniture and glassware, jewelry, handkerchiefs and dolls.
Rachel’s husband, Gerald, passed on February 11, 2005. She is survived by her two daughters, Ann Frigon of Brigham City and Dianne (Gary) Gines of Salt Lake City. Rachel also leaves behind 5 grandchildren: Melissa Byington, Gale, Nicole, Raven, and Kami Brightenburg and Kyle M. Stevens. Rachel had five great-grandchildren: Mikayla, Amara, Graff, Tiler and Ayleigh; as well as 3 great-great grandchildren: Joel, Bronx and a baby due on 11/16/2023. There are also numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at on Friday November 17, 2023 at 11:00 am at Gillies Funeral Chapel located at 634 East 200 South in Brigham City, UT 84302. A viewing for the public is scheduled to precede the funeral at 10:00 am.
Our family would like to extend our extreme gratitude to all of the members of The Gables Assisted Living Facility and Aegis Hospice Services. The love and care provided to Rachel in her final days is immeasurable. We are immensely grateful for each of you.
Internment will be held at the Brigham City Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers or luncheon, please make a donation to your local Meals-on-Wheels program.
