Randy Dean Jacobson died on January 6, 2018 after a valiant, eight-year battle with cancer. Throughout his illness he inspired his friends and family with his strength, courage and selflessness.
He was born on February 18, 1956 to John Reid Jacobson and Donna Marie Westover. He spent his childhood and teen years in Ogden, Utah, graduating from Ben Lomond High School in 1974.
He married his high school sweetheart, Vickie Fisher, on August 9, 1974. Of their union came three children; Brandon, Ryan, and Amber. Vickie preceded him in death in 2016.
Randy was a loyal employee of ATK for 34 years, performing in a variety of different roles. He had a love for the Space Shuttle program and was honored to travel to Florida for the final launch. He spent many happy months working for that program in Florida.
Randy enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, fishing, hunting and people watching. He loved being outside, caring for his yard and feeding the birds. Anyone who knew Randy, knew he took pride in his GM trucks and they were meticulously cared for.
Randy loved football, coaching both of his sons' teams and being his grandson, Casey's, number one fan.
Randy's true joy in life was being grandpa to his ten grandchildren, including three sets of twin girls. They are: Shaylee, Casey, Brooke and Breanne, Brady, Lizzie, Katherine and Emma and Penelope and Aleksandra. He loved them all and spoiled them every chance he got.
He was preceded in death by his wife, mother, Donna, brother-in-law Todd, sister-in-law Tamara, and brother-in-law Mick. Randy is survived by his children Brandon (Steffanie), Ryan (Karen) and Amber (Jim). He is also survived by his father, his mother and father-in-law Myra and George Fisher, as well as his siblings, Glen (Colleen), Barbara, Jessie (Kathy) and Duaine (Faye).
The family would like to express their immense gratitude to the caring staff at the Huntsman Cancer Institute for the care they provided Randy throughout his years of treatment, and for the compassion in his last moments.
