Richard G. Evans

Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Richard G. Evans, 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at his home in Tremonton, Utah. He was born on April 7, 1939 in American Fork, Utah, a son of John Isaac and Lillian Eva McDonald Evans.

Richard graduated from American Fork High School in 1957 and from BYU in Civil Engineering in 1968. He served a mission to England from 1961 to 1962, serving with Elder Holland and Elder Cook. Richard came back and met his future wife, Rowena May Morgan. They were married on June 14, 1963 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Richard served in many capacities in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He never missed a ward party or a ward baseball game.

He worked as a civil engineer for the US Forest Service for over 30 years. Richard’s favorite pastimes were hunting, horse back riding and bowling. His favorite time was spent being with his family and grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Rowena; five children: Richard Morgan (Kathleen) Evans; Bruce M (Kimberly) Evans; Connie (Gregory) Thurman; Susan (Robert) Murdock; Joseph M Evans; 13 grandchildren and 17 ½ great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Nephi (Laura) Evans; one brother-in-law, Walt Bateman and one sister-in-law, Linda Evans.

He was preceded in death by his parents two daughters and one son-iBn-law, Cynthia (Chanley) Christensen, Sharon Evans; five siblings, John (Maureen) Evans; Naomi (Dell) Diamond; Zina Jean Bateman; Robert (Barbara) Evans and Norman (Kay) Evans.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025 at 12-noon at American Fork 7th Ward, 680 Nathan Barnes Street, where a livestream of the services will be available. 

Family will greet friends from 10:30 to 11:30 am at the church.

Interment will be in the American Fork Cemetery.
