Richard Mcquivey

Richard M. McQuivey, age 89, passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 8, 2023 at Quail Meadows Assisted Living in North Ogden, Utah from natural causes. He was born on September 30, 1933 in Salem, Utah to Marion Ole and Geneve B. Simons McQuivey. Rich grew up in Salem and graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1951. In 1955 he graduated from Utah State University with a degree in civil engineering. He married Mary Jane Horton on June 15, 1957 in Springville, Utah and they moved to Hammond, Indiana where he worked for a Cleveland, Ohio Engineering and Construction Company until 1959 when he took a job at a “fly by night rocket company” called Thiokol. He became the Vice President of Facilities and Test Operations and retired in 1992 after 33 years. Rich and Mary spent many happy times at their cabin in Island Park, Idaho with family and friends. Rich is survived by his two sons Brian (Susan) McQuivey of Pleasant View, Utah and Steve McQuivey of St. George, Utah; three grandchildren Craig, Erin and Christin McQuivey whom he loved very dearly; three brothers Lee of Orem, Utah, Raul (Karen) of Oakton, Virginia and Jack of Orem, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law Jean and Lorrin Larsen, sister-in-law Dorene, sister-in-law Maurine and his wife of 56 years Mary Jane Horton McQuivey. Graveside services will be held at Brigham City Cemetery on March 18, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donate to your favorite charity. Send condolences to www.gfc-utah.com
