RODNEY BLAKE BYWATER JR.
Our loving son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, Rodney Blake Bywater Jr., 48, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at his home in Brigham City, Utah.
He was born to Rodney E and Betty Lue Petersen Bywater on March 6, 1976, in Brigham City, Utah. He had a rough start in life being born at 2lbs. 7oz., spending the first 50 days of his life in the hospital.
He attended schools in Brigham City and graduated from Box Elder High School.
Rodney worked for R and K Floors, the family business, learning to be a floor covering installer. He worked on many Habitat for Humanity projects with his father. He developed mental illness while in high school and suffered a lifetime of struggles with drugs and alcohol. Rod was an accomplished drummer and loved playing his guitars. He loved music of all types. Rod loved ATVs, especially at sand dunes, bike rides, hunting and fishing with his family, time boating and swimming at Bear Lake and Lake Powell.
He loved all animals, had many over his life, parakeets, turtles, white rats, fish in his aquarium, dogs and cats of all kinds and even a big snake at one time. He was a lovable kind person. Loved people but was rather shy. Rodney would give the shirt off his back if someone needed it, he was very generous and kind.
Surviving his parents, Rod and Betty of Brigham City; one brother, Kevin James Bywater, Denton, Texas; seven nieces and nephews and two great nieces and one great nephew.
He was preceded in death by his brother Richard (Rick) Bywater.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Brigham City Bible Church, 634 S. 200 E., Brigham City, Utah, where the services will be live streamed located on Rodney’s obituary at www.gilliesmortuary.com
The family will meet friends on Monday, December 16, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and on Tuesday from 9:00 to 10:00 am at Gillies Mortuary, 634 E 200 S., Brigham City, UT.
