Shirley Amanda Oldham Chapman
Brigham City-Our loving wife, mother, grandma, aunt and friend, Shirley Amanda Oldham Chapman, was welcomed home into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father and family on March 15, 2019.
She was born on September 30, 1930, to Russell B. Oldham Sr. and Mary Emilie Swensen. Shirley was born in Paradise, Utah. When Shirley was young her family moved to Logan. She graduated from Logan High School in 1948.
Shirley met her sweetheart, George R. Chapman on a blind date. They fell in love and were married on November 9, 1963, in Logan, Utah. They were later sealed in the Brigham City Temple on June 10, 2017, for time and all eternity. They have three children.
Shirley was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a seminary graduate. She served in various callings and spent much of her time in the service of others.
Shirley worked at International Harvester in Denver and then at Thiokol until her first child was born. After that, she worked in her home as a mother and loving wife.
She loved working in her flower and vegetable gardens. While she was spending time in her rose garden the neighborhood kids would stop and spend time visiting. She delighted in the friendships she made with them. She enjoyed doing ceramics and visiting and caring for her dear lifelong neighbors. Above all she loved spending time with her family.
She was greeted by her parents; one brother Russell B. Oldham Jr.; sister-in-law Laberta Jensen Oldham; brother-in-laws Dale Ocken and W.E. Vann.
Surviving are her husband; 3 children, Brian H. (Diana) Chapman, Brent R. (ShaRee) Chapman, Shellie Rae Chapman-Ashton; 5 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Leatrice Vann, Joyce Ocken; 1 brother, Raymond L. Oldham.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at 11:00am at the 19th Ward Chapel, 105 Fishburn Drive.
Viewings will be held on Tuesday at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham, from 6-8pm, and again on Wednesday prior to the service at 10-10:40am. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
The family wishes to give a special thanks to her family, dear life-long neighbors, friends and hospice caregivers.
