BRIGHAM CITY - Our loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend, Wayne Howard Swenson, passed away on March 20, 2018.
Wayne was born April 12, 1939 in Spanish Fork, Utah to August and Rua Margaret Hanson Swenson. He graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1957. He continued his education getting a Bachelor's Degree at Brigham Young University and a Masters at Texas Tech University. His love of the outdoors and nature led to his career in the US Forest Service. He worked in many different capacities which led him to living in various parts of the west; Cuba, NM; Las Vegas, NM; Springerville, AZ; Clifton, AZ; and Ely, NV.
He married Sharon Rose Larsen in the Salt Lake Temple on August 15, 1967 and lovingly cared for her for more than 50 years. Together they were blessed with three daughters. He was always taking his family on adventures and traveling - bird watching, getting wood, and pointing out different flora and fauna. Of all of these adventures that he had in this life, his family was by far his very favorite. He loved spending time with them: playing games, putting together puzzles, or telling stories. He was always there for them; always willing, always loving and supporting them.
Wayne was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had many callings from being the Branch President of a small branch in New Mexico to his most recent and well-loved calling as a counselor in the Branch Presidency of Maple Springs. His love of the gospel was manifest through his service to others, always caring about how everyone is doing. He always made time in his life to lend family or friends a helping hand and you could always count on him to make time for you in his busy life.
Wayne, is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sharon; his daughters: Amy (Motoomi) Shimazaki; Lori (Scott) Child; and Joy Lynn Swenson. He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren; Logan, Bryce, Ezra, Matthew, Paige, and Parker. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings; Sterling, Glade, and Marilyn.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation for Dr. Vincent Hansen and all of the nurses and staff at the McKay Dee Oncology Clinic.
